On June 13, 2018, Dutch Heritage World Tours and its American partner, the New Amsterdam History Center in New York, presented the very first audio tour we made about Dutch-American heritage in New York. This audio tour, “How Dutch Is New York? – The New Amsterdam Tour” takes you through Lower Manhattan, where the streets of the small town of New Amsterdam once were. We walked the tour (in English or Dutch) in the company of almost 30 interested parties, including the Consul General of the Netherlands in New York, Dolf Hoogewoning, Sophie van Doornmalen, Senior Cultural Officer at the Consulate General, Esme Berg of the New Amsterdam History Center and Andrew Terhune, President of the Holland Society of New York.
In addition to the New Amsterdam Tour, Dutch Heritage World Tours made eight other audio tours on Dutch-American heritage in the city and state of New York. They can be found in the izi.TRAVEL app and all start with “How Dutch Is New York?”.
